CLARA DJ MARKHAM

When Family
Becomes the Thief .

When Family Becomes the Thief tells the emotional true story of a daughter’s fight to protect her father from Alzheimer’s, and from betrayal within her own family. As the disease slowly stole his memory, her brother’s greed took what was left of his security and trust. In her book, she exposes both the cruelty of the illness and the courage it takes to protect what truly matters: love and dignity.

It wasn’t just the money that was stolen,
it was trust, dignity, and time

CLARA DJ MARKHAM

About The Book

He forgot who I was, but I never forgot who he used to be.

Clara DJ Markham shares her heartbreaking experience of caring for her father as he slowly slipped away to Alzheimer’s disease, a cruel illness that stole his memories, independence, and dignity. But the pain didn’t end there. As her father’s mind weakened, someone within the family took advantage of his condition, stealing not just money but trust, respect, and peace.

This book reveals how one woman found the strength to fight back, not only against the disease but also against the betrayal that came from within her own home. When Family Becomes the Thief is a warning about financial abuse, a call for accountability, and a tribute to the unbreakable bond between a father and daughter.

What Readers Love About The Book

5/5

I’ve seen how Alzheimer’s changes someone, but I never thought about how it can break families too. The author’s storytelling makes you feel everything, like you’re right there watching it all unfold. It’s sad, and makes you appreciate the small moments we take for granted.

I picked up this book not knowing what to expect, and ended up crying halfway through. The writing was honest, like reading someone’s diary. It really makes you think about family, trust, and how fragile memories are. I highly recommend it!!

The European languages are members of the same family. Their separate existence is a myth. For science, music, sport, etc, Europe uses the same vocabulary. The languages only differ in their grammar, their pronunciation and their most common words. Everyone realizes why a new common language would be desirable: one could refuse to pay expensive translators.
To achieve this, it would be necessary to have uniform grammar, pronunciation and more common words. If several languages coalesce, the grammar of the resulting language is more simple and regular than that of the individual languages. The new common language will be more simple and regular than the existing European languages. It will be as simple as Occidental; in fact, it will be Occidental.
To an English person, it will seem like simplified English, as a skeptical Cambridge friend of mine told me what Occidental is.The European languages are members of the same family.
